YOGA INSPIRED - Personal and Classes

Yoga

Yoga is a sanskrit word yui that means "yoke" or "union". The union of mind, body and soul or the union with god. In the third century B.C.E. over 5000 years ago, a sage named Patanjali was recognized for leaving behind the first written scriptures to describe the Indian discipline we know today as Yoga.

"Health cannot be brought in the marketplace or in a chemist's shop. It has to be earned with sweat and inspiration" (B.K.S. Iyengar)

Yoga is amoung many other things, than just a system of physical exercises called asana's or posture's.  Asana's do cover an enormous range of body movements and has an immense impact on the whole body, mind and spirit. Yoga asana's are a powerful system of healing, although that is not it's primary aim, it is a gentle yet powerful way to tone muscles, work the joints and internal organs. Relief can be felt from a number of aliments such as arthritis, back problems, hormonal imbalance, circulatory, digestive disorders, the list could go on and on.

There is no age limit to improvement, thus unlike many other forms of exercise, yoga is not merely for the supple or the young. My motto is use it or lose it.

"Every thing that getsworse with age, gets better with yoga" (Celia Hawe)
